RULES
Before you can roleplay and such remember to read the rules.
If you have any questions please check the Frequently Asked Questions before posting them.
-------------------------------------------------
-General OOC-
*** No racial threats or racial name calling.
** No discrimination against gender
*** No illegal internet activity, like posting porn or links to illegal things like hacking, drugs, etc..
*** No bypassing a ban.
* Keep advertising in the advertising board. Do not advertise in PMs or the C-Box.
If your account isn't active for more than five months it will be deleted unless you posted in the away board or the admin saw you say something about it.
@ Don't put images that will stretch the page in your signature. Staff can and will remove your signature without warning if it's too large.
-------------------------------------------------
-General RP-
@ Do not post with your character until it has been accepted in the Character Creation board. If you continue to, an actual warning will be issued every time until you are temporarily banned. If it continues after that, a permanent ban will be issued.
If you see red text at the bottom of your post (and you didn't put it there yourself) it means that the admin has made a comment about your post because you have been doing something wrong, like your posts have been too short or you have been power playing. @ You DO NOT, under any circumstances, remove the note from your post yourself without the admin's permission .
@ Please use the Spell Check button (or spell check your post elsewhere) when posting. The button is located at the bottom of the posting page, the buttons are ordered as follows; Modify Post, Preview, SPELL CHECK, and Reset.
@ Use proper grammar and punctuation.
* No one liners while IC (in character). Preferably a paragraph (150 words) or more. This may or may not become mandatory.
A year in the roleplay's time is four months. Seasons last a month each.
Try not to actively post in two threads using the same character. Before using the character in another thread please finish the previous one, does not count if either party stops posting altogether in it. Once again, this is not mandatory, but it does make it easier for members (and yourself) to know exactly whats going on with that character.
-------------------------------------------------
-Wolves in General-
@ For the sake of the game, most canines only live 10-15 years. You may not pass 20. (a year in the game is four months, that's 80 months for 20 years in the game....yes, a very long time, though many wolves may/will die long before that)
This is a realistic wolf/canine roleplay set on a secluded volcanic island. Any breed will do, mixed breeds are fine. Wolf-like canines such as dingos, coyotes, african wild dogs, larger domestic dogs, etc. will be accepted as well, though the main focus of the site is wolves. Dire Wolves and other extinct species are also accepted, as are thylacines (also known as tasmanian tigers; a dog-like marsupial) and hyenas (they aren't canines at all) and other dog-like animals (foxes included) are accepted but cannot breed to produce pups with anything other than their own kind.
Wolves who chose to be loners cant post in other packs unless they wish to join them or challenge the leader. Exceptions can be made by the alphas if they choose. Loners can, however, post in the Unclaimable Territories whenever they like.
Wolves may curse (cuss; say bad words).
If a wolf dies they may not be 'reborn' unless a plot calls for it. Must be run through the admin first if this is the case.
-------------------------------------------------
-Breeding-
Click Here for More Detailed Rules for Breeding
When creating characters, try not to create two that are mates (ie, mates that are both roleplayed by the same person). It's alright if you do it once, but I honestly don't want it running rampant in the board. It's unfair to other people who are looking for mates, and can also make for confusing roleplay.
The alpha male may breed with any female in his pack, regardless. The current mate of that female may challenge the alpha to prevent this if he so wishes, but the land will become his if he wins or (if he refuses the land) he must leave the pack.
The alpha female may only be bred by the alpha male and no one else. Under ranking males they risk being killed by the dominant male if they attempt to breed his mate.
Though there are breeding and birthing seasons, wolves may breed whenever they wish. But, if you breed outside of breeding season you must give birth in the next season and your pups will have to face the hardships of that season. Ex: Lets say you breed in fall. Your pups will be born in winter when there is less prey.
The number of pups in a litter is completely random and chosen by a dice roll conducted by the admin. Same goes for mutations and sicknesses upon birth.
Cross breeding (between two different species) is allowed, but some or all of the pups might be sterile (cant have pups) if the two species are too distantly related. Ex: A gray wolf and a coyote may breed and produce pups. They have two pups. One pup is sterile. (In other words, a cross between a coyote and a gray wolf has more of a chance to have sterile pups than a cross between a gray wolf and an arctic wolf)
The number of sterile pups in a crossed litter is completely random, though the number may be tweaked (before they are rolled, of coarse) for crosses.
Pups from a wolf/dog cross are highly unlikely to be sterile.
If a wolf is sterile it may still mate, though will not have any pups. Characters may ask other wolves to carry the pups for the couple, and the couple will raise them. Ex: The sterile male pup of the Coyote and Gray wolf has a mate. The couple wants pups. They may ask another wolf (the sterile wolf's fertile brother or any other fertil wolf/canine they please) to mate with the female and the couple (CoyWolf and his mate) will raise the pups.
Same-gender wolves may mate, though no pups will be born.
Wolves that are blood-related may mate, but the pups will either be deformed, sterile, or stillborn (born dead).
@ Wolf must be at least 3 years of age in order to have any pups.
Whether or not other wolves in a pack can breed is up to the alpha male/female.
** No extremely graphic breeding. Wolves don't moan or do other things like that. Staff may request such posts containing material like this to be edited.
Force breeding is allowed, so long as both characters' players agree on it. Power playing is allowed in such an event, so long as both parties agree on it as they did before.
-------------------------------------------------
-Birthing-
Wolves must give birth in the dens of their pack or the shelter areas in the Unclaimable Lands. The dens/shelters are sub-boards in each IC area. Doing this makes it easier for staff to find the posts in order to post pup stats.
Your wolf should give birth in the season directly after breeding. If you breed when it is Spring, you should give birth in Summer. Or if you breed in Winter you should give birth in Spring, etc. Whether the birth takes place in the beginning, middle, or end of the season does not matter and is up to the players of the characters involved. This is not a set rule, as some roleplay sessions can last a month in themselves.
When you give birth, post both the parents stats (or you could PM them to the admin):
Code:Code: Name: Parents: Breed: |
|
This isn't required but it makes it easier for staff members to decide your litter's stats (like how many pups, stuff like that). Instead of doing this you may ask for the pups' stats to be rolled early and sent to the players of the parents in private messages.
When it comes time for the pups to be born the female whom is pregnant will make the first post unless she is busy and unable to, if that is the case she may ask the admin to make the first post by posting the pups' stats first.
The female will normally roleplay her pups, or the father of the pups will. Litters may be divided among the two. If neither want to roleplay the pups they can put them up for adoption at the Character Adoption sub-board located in the Characters board or negotiate among other members through private messages or the C-Box.
Females may eat their newborn pups if they can handle it, though others may not approve of it and can bother the mother about it if they wish, double-time if it upsets an alpha.
-------------------------------------------------
-Pups-
Pups can leave the pack at any age, but must first ask the alpha if they wish not to be hunted down/looked for. Pups who run away are likely to be looked for by their pack.
When pups reach the age of 3, they can find a mate.
Pups may mate before the age of 3, but not new pups will result from it.
Pups of the alphas will most likely be the heir to the their parents' land.
-------------------------------------------------
-Heirs and Alphas-
One player may not have two of their own characters be both alphas of a single land. Each player may only have alphas in two lands, the first one they may claim themselves and the second can be the mate of the initial alpha of the other land. Ex: Billy is Bob's character and claims Land #1. Jack is also Bob's character and becomes the mate of the alpha of Land #3.
When the Alpha Male and Alpha Female produce pups, those pups will be the heirs to the parents' land.
If the either Alpha Male or Female dies, the remaining Alpha Male/Female cannot appoint another Alpha for at least a week (in real time) after his/her death.
If there is more than one pup in the Alphas' litter, only one may be chosen for heir. Both cannot be heir unless the chosen one chooses their sibling as a mate.
-------------------------------------------------
-Battles-
Click for More Detailed Rules for Battles for Packs
Fights can start and take place anywhere.
If you challenge an alpha, and he/she doesn't want to fight, the challenger wins the alpha's land and pack by default. If the alpha declines because he has posted in the Away board it does not count and the fight may be postponed.
You cannot kill another character unless their player is OK with it.
* Power playing or god modding are not allowed. If you power play (cause your opponent pain or bloodshed in YOUR post, without the other player's consent), you WILL be warned and any further power playing will result in a temporary ban.
Ex of Power Playing (bad): Bob: Billy Sank his fangs into Jane and made her bleed." Ex of Non-Power Playing (good): Bob: Billy bit Jane's leg, hoping to make her bleed."
Also, do not make your character dodge every attack, they have to be hit at least a couple times. And no magic or impossible feats for your species (wolves cant jump 10 feet in the air or climb trees, for jus a few examples).
Fights can be between any gender (male vs. male, male vs. female, female vs. female).
