Alright people, Id really prefer it is all of you voted in this one.
I'm just going ahead with the wiki plan anyway, so this is taking top priority.

Im asking you this: Should MoW have a mandatory word count for posts IC?
It would not be a huge one, 100-150 words would be as high as I'd make it.

I'm only posting this because, sometimes, people here just don't try when it comes to posting. This is supposed to be a fun thing to do and a creative outlet, but it's ruined when someone posts something so short that it's hard to reply to without a short, empty post of their own.

We've got some wonderful players here, all you. I know you can do better than just a few (as it, two or maybe four) nondescript sentences.

I'd like to apologize to those of you who have been going above and beyond 150 words with your posts. You guys rock.

Since this post is kind of important, you are allowed to retract your votes and re-vote. This poll will be locked on the 13th.

Discuss and vote here all you want.

Hmm, I'd have to place my points across here.

You have to consider the fact that many people may not be as experienced as other roleplayers. Many of the people who are exceptionally well at roleplaying have years of experience, and I'm not just citing myself on this point, but you need to keep in mind that I have over seven years of roleplaying behind me, which makes my posts long has hell.

Granted, some people may be good at getting longer posts then some, but then again, others may need help at creating longer posts, I'd recommend opening a creative writing school board or something somewhere on your forum to help them out. And some of the people who are not as experienced as others, (e.g. - your so called one-liners) could be referred to the school board as sort of a help-aid to assist in increasing their post length. I wouldn't mind running it, I could probably teach people alot when it comes to terms of writting good, and lengthy posts that are filled with emotion and action at the same time.

I think a school-type program would be a good aid in making effective writers. I wouldn't mind helping with that. That is, assuming, my posts are up to par.

However, I think a better way to go about it is maybe not a word-count but make a minimum of two paragraphs a post (with a paragraph being 4-5 good sentences). Perhaps build in an award system for those who try the hardest to improve themselves and are not necessarily good writers already -because we all know its not fair when the same kid wins the trophy everytime :).

I do like the writing school idea, and I suppose some of the more experienced people here could be labeled as 'Tutors' or something and train/teach people either in their own sub-boards or over PMs. I could set it up and allow you (Rampage) to run it however you want, if you like, since Im not entirely sure how to go about it.

As for the two-paragraph minimum, that sounds good as well, but we may still get horribly short posts since the sentences may end up any length.
With awards, I could do that. There could be a monthly vote (as you know, Im soft and find it hard to pick and choose) and incentives like custom titles or something.

With the two paragraph thing, you could set a minimum of how many sentences are to be in a paragraph.

Some sites I have been on state that four sentences is a paragraph. Maybe we could do something similar?

Just a few thoughts..

A word count can help a player monitor and learn how much is acceptable - the only way to learn to improve is to give themselves a goal, and if they can visually see the amount that the post needs to be in order to reach that goal, than it will help.

Of course, to reach that goal it must be coupled with adequate teaching and guidance. I think everyone has a different style in which they chose to role play in, so introducing the many different approaches can be useful in giving the less experienced role players a good starting point from where they can branch off with their own creativity and originality as the ideas come to them.

Also, when teaching, perhaps they can start off by following a sort of a template that gives them something to follow. It can be manipulated to their choice of structure, but they can follow the basic concept, such as describing the location their character is in, their character's appearance and actions, their character's thoughts, their speech and how they speak and so on. Perhaps a list of descriptive words would help, some to describe texture, some to describe speech, some to describe physical movement and others to describe facial expressions.
